Lava Art | How To Contour With Our Compact Cushion
To contour using our Compact Cushions, you’ll need to get yourself a shade 3-5 shades darker than your usual shade (depending on how deep you want your contour). For example, if your normal shade is a 25, then you could look at using a shade number 28-30 for your contour.
You’ll want to start off your makeup, like you would any other day - with your base! Take your normal compact cushion color and dab it across your face using the application puff until you get your desired coverage. Now it’s time to get out that darker shade and let’s contour!
The whole point of contouring is to enhance the natural shape of your face while giving you dimension. Some of the areas we like to focus on with our contour are our cheekbones, nose and along the jawline. Pop out the applicator that came with your darker shade compact and fold it in half so that it’s in a fluted shape. Tap the applicator into the cushion and starting with your nose, dab the darker color down either side of your nose. These lines are what is going to give the illusion of a slimmer nose.
Now grab your beauty blender and just lightly tap the darker color back into your foundation. You want to do this gradually so that you're not blending it in completely, but rather leaving a little bit of a color differentiation which is exactly what’s proving that contouring effect. It’s also important to dab at your contoured lines and not drag the product, so you’re not moving the darker color where you don’t want it to be!
Next move onto your cheekbones. Similar to before, fold the applicator in half and dab it on your face from your ear to the apple of your cheek. If you’re having trouble finding your cheekbones, suck in your cheeks! Reload your applicator with the product, and now dab it along the edge of your jawline before grabbing your beauty blender and blending it all out. Blend, baby, blend!
You’ll be left with a face that’s full of dimension and shade achieving that perfectly contoured look. Now it’s time to finish your makeup and don’t forget to set your face! Check out our Easy, Everyday makeup look if you’re looking for some inspo.
