5 Tips And Tricks For A Natural ‘No Makeup’ Makeup Look

Who would have thought that creating that effortless, no makeup look would be a lot harder than painting a full face on? Unfortunately, that’s a reality for many of us, especially those new to the world of makeup. No matter how much you try to enhance your natural beauty instead of covering flaws, your makeup still looks far from natural.

Not all hope is lost, however, as we’ve rounded up our favorite tips to help you get that no makeup makeup look in no time!

1. Prep and prime

As always, you should start by following your regular skincare routine to prep the skin for what’s to come. If you have a bit more time on your hands, you can even give your skin a hydration boost with a moisturizing sheet mask for a more supple complexion. Then, prime your base to smooth and even out the skin before applying foundation. For more solid base, consider using a colored concealer to neutralize any imperfections or redness.

2. Go easy on the foundation

For a natural glow, stay away from thick, rich foundations and choose a lightweight, buildable coverage like our Compact Cushion Foundation to define, not erase your features. The applicator puff makes it easy to apply it to areas you want to cover up without going overboard and re-apply through out the day (or night) as and when needed.

3. And your eye makeup

Since we’re trying to recreate a no makeup makeup look, more is less when it comes to your eye makeup. That’s not to say you can’t use any eyeshadow or even, draw a subtle smokey eye, but definitely avoid vibrant colors and go for nude shades instead. The same rule applies to your mascara, as thick, volumous lashes can be a little too much for this makeup style.

4. Add color to your cheeks

A touch of blush is exactly what you need to give your makeup that natural look. But again, too much of the powder, and you’ll end up looking far from natural. It’s important to use only a touch of the blush, and apply it to strategic areas of your face – namely, just the apples of your cheeks. Oh, and don’t forget to blend it to add believability.

5. Finish with a setting powder

If a finishing powder still hasn’t found its way into your makeup bag, trust us: it will sooner or later, and you’ll be left wondering why you didn’t start using it sooner! Setting powders are a fantastic way to lock in the foundation, make your makeup look polished and last a lot, lot longer.
